 Info:

  • To put it simply, in the tournament so far, when Delhi Capitals’ openers bat well then they win. When they have an off-day they lose. Against CSK, Prithvi Shaw’s 72 was outdone by Shikhar Dhawan’s 85 as they cruised to victory with 8 balls to spare. However, against Rajasthan Royals, they contributed a combined 11 and in spite of 51 from captain Rishabh Pant, Delhi went down by 3 wickets. With the ball, Avesh Khan has been the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3-32 and 2-23. Chris Woakes and Kagiso Rabada have also been impressive.
  • Punjab Kings performances with the bat have been poles apart. In their opening game, KL Rahul hit 91, Deepak Hooda 64 and Chris Gayle 40 as they beat Rajasthan. However, against CSK, the top 5 batsmen contributed 25 runs between them leaving only Shahrukh Khan with 47 as they crumbled in setting a target. Mohammed Shami and Arshdeep Singh have been the bowlers of note, both players having taken 4 wickets in the tournament so far.
  • Kagiso Rabada emerged from quarantine to play for Delhi Capitals in their last game and there must be a temptation to do the same with fellow countryman Anrich Nortje who is now out of quarantine. For Punjab Kings, we are yet to see Chris Jordan take the field in his fifth IPL season.

The match can be watched live on Star Sports in India, Sky Cricket in the UK and Willow TV in the USA.
 Toss Predictions
After they failed miserably with the bat against CSK, it would take a very brave KL Rahul to choose to bat first. As usual, we expect Rahul or Pant to opt to chase.

 Weather & Pitch Report
⛅ Weather:
High of 33 at the start of the game, it won’t dip below 30 during both teams’ innings.
🏟️ Pitch:
The Wankhede Stadium is the ground providing the best surface for batting at present. We expect significant runs on both sides in this game.

 Team NEWS:

 DC Team News:
We expect Anrich Nortje to be picked for this game with Tom Curran the unfortunate player to be left out. Apart from that, Delhi Capitals should keep faith with the team which so ruthlessly dispatched Chennai Super Kings in their opening game of IPL 2021.
 PBKS Team News:
After any big defeat the pressure is on the management to ring the changes, but Kumble and Rahul know better than to resort to any knee-jerk reaction. We expect them to keep faith with the team which got them up and running, before spectacularly failing, in this game.

 DC Key Players:

 Shikhar Dhawan
player of the match in their first game, Dhawan will be keen to return to top form immediately after a blip against Rajasthan Royals. We wait to see if he can repeat his 106* against the same opposition from last year.

 Rishabh Pant

his run out in the last game was the point where the pendulum swung away from Delhi Capitals. This not only shows how important he has become to his team but also how key a wicket he is for the opposition.

 Kagiso Rabada
The 2020 IPL Purple Cap winner returned from quarantine by picking up the wickets of Sanju Samson and Rahul Tewatia. Fast, aggressive and intimidating, Rabada is a threat to all batsmen.

 PBKS Key Players:

 KL Rahul:
If he opened the bowling as well then he probably would be the most important player for any team in the history of the IPL. However, opening the batting, keeping wicket and captaining is still a large task and the team look to him to set an example at the top of the order.

 Mohammed Shami:
19 wickets in the 2019 IPL and 20 wickets in the 2020 IPL, his 4 wickets in 2 games have put him on track to go beyond 21 in this year’s tournament. His economy rate at 6.75 is also impressive.

 Arshdeep Singh:

The young left-arm bowler is keeping up with his more experienced bowler with 4 wickets so far in the tournament. In each game he has taken a wicket of an opener.

 Team Forms:

 DC Team Form:
Consistently inconsistent, you have to go back 10 games to find the last time they won 2 IPL matches back to back. However, there is something about them this year.

 PBKS Team Form:
It’s very hard to make a case for a team being in good form after posting only 106-8 in their last game. When you add their successive defeats at the end of the 2020 IPL, it looks like the win against Rajasthan may have been the exception to the rule.

 SQUAD:
 Punjab Kings:

KL Rahul (c/wk), Mayank Agarwal, Chris Gayle, Mandeep Singh, Prabsimran Singh, Nicholas Pooran (wk), Sarfaraz Khan, Deepak Hooda, Murugan Ashwin, Ravi Bishnoi, Harpreet Brar, Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh, Ishan Porel, Darshan Nalkande, Chris Jordan, Dawid Malan, Jhye Richardson, Shahrukh Khan, Riley Meredith, Moises Henriques, Jalaj Saxena, Utkarsh Singh, Fabian Allen , Saurabh Kumar.

 Delhi Capitals:

Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Ajinkya Rahane, Rishabh Pant , Shimron Hetmyer, Marcus Stoinis, Chris Woakes, R Ashwin, Axar Patel, Amit Mishra, Lalit Yadav, Pravin Dubey, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Ishant Sharma, Avesh Khan, Steve Smith, Umesh Yadav, Ripal Patel, Vishnu Vinod, Lukman Meriwala, M Siddarth, Tom Curran, Sam Billings.

 ℹ️ Match Finished
Pitch Report: This pitch looks a bit drier, there’s not as much moisture as the last game. There will be less seam movement as compared to the previous matches. 11 wickets have fallen in the four games of powerplay, so the teams need to get through the powerplay overs watchfully, reckons Simon Doull.
Toss:  DC won the TOSS & elected to BOWL first.

IN: J Saxena, S Smith, Lukman Meriwala
OUT: T Curran, M Ashwin

Punjab Kings (Playing XI) :
KL Rahul(w/c), Mayank Agarwal, Chris Gayle, Deepak Hooda, Nicholas Pooran, Shahrukh Khan, Jhye Richardson, Jalaj Saxena, Mohammed Shami, Riley Meredith, Arshdeep Singh.

Delhi Capitals (Playing XI):
Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, Steven Smith, Rishabh Pant(w/c), Marcus Stoinis, Lalit Yadav, Chris Woakes, Ravichandran Ashwin, Kagiso Rabada, Avesh Khan, Lukman Meriwala.
