ENG vs SL Tips, Stats & Team for Today Match Prediction

Match:  ENG vs SL 1st ODI Match Prediction
Time:   29 June, 03:30 PM (IST)

 Series:: 1st ODI Match
Venue:  Riverside Ground – Chester-le-Street, England.

 Info:

  • England have very strong options across all positions in their ODI side. Opener Jonny Bairstow is an excellent option for leading run scorer for England after scores of 112, 94 and 124 in three of his last four ODI innings. With the ball, Chris Woakes is an excellent choice for leading wicket taker, he has 145 wickets in this format.
  • Captain Kusal Perera has 104 ODI caps and has made six centuries since making his debut in 2013. He is a good tip for top run scorer for Sri Lanka. Wanindu Hasaranga was very impressive in the recent IT20 series and we expect his spin to cause England problems in this game. He is a good bet for Sri Lanka’s leading wicket taker.
  • England’s regular wicket-keeper Jos Butller is out of the series through injury and we expect Jonny Bairstow to deputise. Attacking left-hander Niroshan Dickwella will keep wicket for Sri Lanka. We recommend Bairstow as the top wicket-keeper in this opening ODI.
 Live Streaming
Live Streaming: The match can be watched live on Sky Cricket in the UK. The Sony Network will show live coverage in India. SLRC will show the game in Sri Lanka. Fox Cricket will show the match in Australia.

 Weather & Pitch Report
⛅ Weather:
High of 18 degrees without any danger of rain during the match. Thick cloud should clear as the game progresses.
🏟️ Pitch:
Mark Wood’s home ground will certainly have some pace in the wicket. However, we also expect the spin bowlers to enjoy the conditions in Durham.
 Toss Prediction
England always prefer to chase in this format whereas Sri Lanka favour batting first. Conditions may dictate other approaches but we would expect both captains to stick to their usual approaches.

 Winning Chances:

Who will win today match: ENG vs SL ODI Fantasy Team
Sri Lanka were no match for England in the recent IT20 series and may well struggle to also compete with the 2019 World Cup Winners in this series. We are predicting an England win in the opening ODI.

 Team NEWS:

 ENG Team News:
  • Due to injuries, England are without regular ODI players Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer and Jos Buttler. However, they still have many match winners and experienced players to select from. We expect left-arm fast bowler George Garton to get a debut in this match.
 SL Team News:
  • As with the IT20 series, Sri Lanka have brought a squad with a mix of youth and experience to England. Their batting was the main issue during the IT20 matches and the hope must be that this longer format will allow the players to master the conditions.

Chris Woakes
Wanindu Hasaranga
Kusal Perera

 ENG Key Players:

 Jonny Bairstow
Irrespective of the format, it always seems that Bairstow has a point to prove when he walks to the wicket. His batting form in ODIs has been very impressive for many years.

 Joe Root
England’s Test captain is very important to the ODI side. With stroke makers surrounding him in the XI, Root’s role is to keep the scoreboard ticking over at a healthy rate and bat through the innings.

 Adil Rashid
The leg-spinner has been an integral part of England’s white ball sides since 2015. Bowling in tandem with Moeen Ali, expect Rashid’s variations to cause real problems.

 SL Key Players:

 Kusal Perera
Sri Lanka’s captain opens the batting and has a solid record in this format. He scored 120 in his last ODI game, against Bangladesh in Dhaka.

 Wanindu Hasaranga
Opposition batsmen tend to bat in a risk free manner against Hasaranga. He has 21 wickets from 21 ODIs.

 Dushmantha Chameera
The tall fast bowler comes into this series on the back of taking 9 wickets from 3 ODIs against Bangladesh. He recorded his best ODI figures of 5-16 in his last appearance.
