ENG vs SL Tips, Stats & Team for Today Match Prediction

Match:  ENG vs SL 2nd ODI Match Prediction
Time:   01 July, 05:30 PM (IST)

 Series:: 2nd ODI Match
Venue:  Kennington Oval – London, England.

 Info:

  • England found themselves 4 wickets down inside 12 overs whilst chasing in the first ODI. However, Joe Root’s assured 87-ball unbeaten 79 took them to victory. He is a reliable choice for England’s leading run scorer in this game. Chris Woakes took 4-18 and bowled 5 maidens on Tuesday. He is an excellent option for England’s top wicket taker in this match.
  • Sri Lanka’s captain Kusal Perera hit 73 of their 185 total in Chester-le-Street. With many of their other experienced batsmen at home, he is a good bet for Sri Lanka’s top run scorer. Dushmantha Chameera took 3-50 and is well worth backing as Sri Lanka’s leading wicket taker in the second ODI.
  • England’s wicket-keeper Jonny Bairstow took a catch in the field and hit an impressive 43 from 21 balls at the top of the order on Tuesday. Kusal Perera also took a catch to go with his impressive 73. It’s a tough call but we would recommend Jonny Bairstow as the top wicket-keeper in Thursday’s ODI.
 Live Streaming
Live Streaming: The match can be watched live on Sky Cricket in the UK. The Sony Network will show live coverage in India. SLRC will show the game in Sri Lanka. Fox Cricket will show the match in Australia.

 Weather & Pitch Report
⛅ Weather:
The temperature will top 22 degrees in South London with sporadic clouds during the game.
🏟️ Pitch:
Any game at The Kia Oval will offer something for the spinners and pace bowlers alike. The last ODI at this ground saw Australia post 334-7 against Sri Lanka during the 2019 World Cup.
 Toss Prediction
England won the toss and chose to field in the opening ODI. We expect Eoin Morgan to do the same if he calls correctly at The Kia Oval. Kusal Perera usually prefers to bat first.

 Winning Chances:

Who will win today match: ENG vs SL ODI Fantasy Team
Sri Lanka had their moments in the first ODI but, in spite of good batting from Perera and Hasaranga, were well beaten by Eoin Morgan’s side. It is hard to see any other result in this game other than another comprehensive England win.

 Team NEWS:

 ENG Team News:
  • Jason Roy was ruled out of the first ODI with a tight hamstring but is expected to be fit and retake his place at the top of the order in this game. Although there will be a temptation to give some fringe players a game, England may well target a 2-0 unassailable lead before any experimenting.
 SL Team News:
  • Sri Lanka already had an inexperienced squad before this series began. But the decision to send Kusal Mendis, Danushka Gunathilaka and Niroshan Dickwella home for a bio-security bubble breach deprived them of 363 international caps. They have very limited options to change the team.

Mark Wood
Liam Livingstone
Wanindu Hasaranga

 ENG Key Players:

 Jonny Bairstow
Bairstow kept up his impressive batting form in ODI cricket with 7 boundaries during his 21-ball 43 on Tuesday. His job is to pile on the runs from the first ball.

 Joe Root
England’s man for a crisis in ODI cricket showed his worth to the side once again in the opening game. He anchored the chase and ensured his team got home over the line after the earlier wobble.

 Chris Woakes
The all-rounder showed what a great bowler he is in English conditions with 4-18 in Tuesday’s game. His wickets took him over 150 ODI dismissals.

 SL Key Players:

 Kusal Perera
The Sri Lanka captain successfully took the attack to the England bowlers in the first ODI and will be hoping more of his team-mates can stick with him in this match.

 Wanindu Hasaranga
With the departure of top order batsmen from the squad, Hasaranga showed his worth with 54 batting at number six. He was Sri Lanka’s most economical bowler by some distance.

 Dushmantha Chameera
Sri Lanka’s opening bowler has 13 wickets in his last 4 ODIs and is equally as effective in English conditions as he is anywhere in the world.

 Team Forms:

 ENG Team Form:
  • Once again England showed that they are still some distance from the well oiled machine which went on to win the 2019 World Cup. The first game was a good opportunity to regain form and they took it.
 SL Team Form:
  • After losing the IT20 series 3-0, Sri Lanka look likely to be white washed in this format as well. They have won only one of their last seven ODIs.
