 Team News:

 EN-W Team News:

England Women beat New Zealand Women 2-1 in the WIT20 series earlier this month and will be firm favourites for this opening WODI. In this longer white-ball format, England Women have won six of their last eight games, a run which stretched back to December 2019. Tammy Beaumont was in good form during the WIT20 series and hit the most runs across both sides. She has 7 centuries to her name in WODIs since her debut in November 2009. With the ball, Sarah Glenn and Tash Farrant both took 4 wickets apiece during the WIT20 series. They will be joined in the bowling attack by Katherine Brunt and Sophie Ecclestone.

 NZ-W Team News:

Captain Sophie Devine and Leigh Kasperek were the lead performers for New Zealand Women during the 2-1 WIT20 series defeat and will once again be underdogs for this game. New Zealand Women’s WODI form is not impressive, they have won only one of their last fifteen games in this format although that victory was against England Women in Dunedin in February earlier this year. Sophie Devine hit a half-century in the second WIT20 win, but apart from her, only Amy Satterthwaite made a score over 40 for their side. Kasperek was the standout bowler with 6 wickets, Devine was the only other to take 3 wickets for New Zealand Women.

 Team Forms:

 EN-W Team Form: .

  • Danielle Wyatt has been recalled to the side for the ODI series. Along with Wyatt, Kate Cross and Lauren Winfield-Hill have joined the squad after missing the T20I series. Twenty-year-old off-spinner Charlie Dean has also been included in the squad. England have a good mix of experienced and young players, and will be starting as the favourites in the ODI series
  • .

 NZ-W Team Form:

  • New Zealand, meanwhile, need to quickly turn the tables around. In the second game of the T20I series, they bounced back to force a decider, but ran out of steam in that game. Their batters failed to make significant contributions in the T20 series, so they need to step up in the ODI series. Experienced players such as Sophie Devine and Amy Satterthwaite contributed with the bat. But the other batters need to perform to challenge a strong English side at home. Leigh Kasperek starred with the ball as she finished with six wickets to her name in the 3-match T20I series

 SQUAD:

Danni Wyatt, Sophia Dunkley, Tamsin Beaumont, Charlie Dean, Heather Knight (c), Nat Sciver, Amy Jones(w), Lauren Winfield-Hill (w), Anya Shrubsole, Freya Davies, Kate Cross, Katherine Brunt, Sarah Glenn, Sophie Ecclestone, Natasha Farrant.
