HUR vs STA Tips, Stats & Team for BBL T20 Match Prediction

Match:  HUR vs STA T20 Match Prediction
Time:     24 December, 10:00 PM (IST)

 Series:   BBL T20 Match
Venue:   Bellerive Oval – Hobart, Australia

 Info:

  • D’Arcy Short is averaging 46 in this year’s BBL and is our pick for Hobart Hurricanes’ highest run scorer in this game. With the ball, all-rounder Jordan Thompson took 3-33 against Perth Scorchers and is a strong choice for Hobart Hurricanes’ top wicket-taker against Melbourne Stars.
  • Glenn Maxwell hit a 57 ball 107 in Melbourne Stars’ last match and is well worth backing as their highest run scorer against Hobart Hurricanes. Brody Couch has taken 6 wickets with his medium pace bowling and is our tip for Melbourne Stars’ top wicket taker in this match.
  • Although his century was in a losing cause, we expect Glenn Maxwell to produce another impressive innings in this fixture. He is our prediction for the Player of the Match Award.

🏟️ Pitch:

This is only the second game of the BBL season at the Blundstone Arena. We expect to see a pitch more helpful for pace bowlers with batters struggling to time the ball.

 Team News:

 HUR Team News:

  • Matthew Wade’s side were easily brushed aside by top of the table Perth Scorchers in both of their last two games in BBL 2021 . They won’t be the only team to be beaten by the Scorchers so should not read too much into those results. Jordan Thompson came into the team ahead of their last match and should retain his place after bowling impressively.

 STA Team News:

  • After beating Melbourne Renegades to get their season up and running, Melbourne Stars were brought back down to earth with a 53 run defeat against Sydney Thunder on Sunday. Out of their top seven batters, only Tom Cooper reached double figures. We expect the Heat batters to be given the opportunity to redeem themselves in this game.

Who will win today match: HUR vs STA BBL T20 Match Team

Although both teams lost their last match, they can point to plenty of reasons why they should be competitive in this match. Hobart Hurricanes will relish playing someone other than runaway leaders Perth Scorchers, whereas Melbourne Stars put in an excellent performance against Sydney Sixers. We are backing the Stars to win this game.

 HUR Key Players:

Matthew Wade:
The keeper-batter has the highest score in his side so far in the tournament. He has hit 18 boundaries in this year’s BBL.
D’Arcy Short:
The opener has faced 134 balls in the campaign and scored 138 runs. He is the type of batter who needs other stroke-makers around him.
Jordan Thompson:
The Yorkshire all-rounder came in as an X-Factor replacement and took the wickets of Kurtis Patterson, Laurie Evans and Andrew Tye.

 STA Key Players:

Glenn Maxwell:
The Stars’ skipper put in an excellent batting performance against champions Sydney Sixers. He is one of only three players to have hit a century in this BBL.
Andre Russell:
The all-rounder is delivering more with the bat than the ball so far. He is yet to be dismissed but has also not taken a wicket.
Brody Couch:
The young medium pacer has taken wickets in every game and not conceded more than 26 runs in any of his last three matches.

 Team Forms:

 HUR Team Form:

  • The Hurricanes will be looking to build on their earlier win in the tournament after suffering successive defeats to Perth Scorchers in recent games.
~

 STA Team Form:

  • The Stars had won successive BBL games before their 7 wicket defeat to Sydney Sixers.
