 Info:

  • Islamabad United will look to get back to winning ways after being carted for just 118 against Peshawar Zalmi last time out, when they take on Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League.
  • Islamabad United started with two good wins but Alex Hales’ 41 from 27 balls could not stop them folding for just 118 last time out.
  • Quetta Gladiators have also played three times but they are yet to win – most recently being unable to defend 198/7 after Sarfaraz Ahmed’s excellent 81 from 40 balls in their three-wicket loss to Peshawar Zalmi.

 Weather & Pitch Report
⛅ Weather:
Karachi’s weather will be much the same as last week – hot and dry with zero chance of rain.
🏟️ Pitch:
The wicket at Karachi favours batting, though the fast men have had their rewards from a quick surface too.

 Team NEWS:

 ISL Team News:
Islamabad United brought Paul Stirling and Fawad Ahmed in last time out and, despite the quality the two clearly possess, they may regret that decision after their loss. There could be a few more changes this time as a result, with Rohail Nazir a possible to come in too.

 QUE Team News:
Faf du Plessis replaced Chris Gayle in PSL 2021, who is on international duty, for the match last time out. He was one of a few changes, which also saw Saim Ayub move up the batting order and Cameron Delport replace Tom Banton. After his expensive bowling in the last two games, Usman Shiwari could be under pressure with Naseem Shah waiting in the wings. Dale Steyn was already added to the bowling line-up last time out.

 ISL Key Players:

 Alex Hales:
Islamabad’s top batsman so far, having scored 29, 46 and 41 in the three games so far, to pick up in the form he showed at the BBL too.

 Hasan Ali:
After wickets in each of the first two games, he was the pick of the bowlers last time out as he claimed 2-14 from four overs and briefly offered hope of a shock comeback.

 Mohd Wasim:
Bowled well on debut in the first game and his bowling briefly gave hope of an unlikely comeback last time too as he struck in his first over.

 QUE Key Players:

 Faf du Plessis:
With Chris Gayle now absent, Quetta moved fast to acquire the experienced South African and he hit 37 from 26 balls in his first game last time out.

 Mohd Hasnain:
Has not lived up to the heights of his 2-18 in the opening game but he did grab a wicket last time out and has starred against Islamabad before. He will feel he has a point to prove after accidentally letting five wides slip just as he looked to clawing things back in the final over.

 Sarfaraz Ahmed:
Followed up a 33-ball 40 in the previous game with an excellent 81 from 40 balls last time out.

 Team Forms:

 ISL Team Form:
Islamabad United started the season with wins against Multan Sultans and Karachi Kings, chasing 197 to beat the latter by five wickets in a particularly good batting display. The opposite was true despite Alex Hales’ 41 last time out, however, as they slumped to 118 all out in a six-wicket loss to Peshawar Zalmi.

 QUE Team Form:
Batting first in each game so far, Quetta Gladiators’ batting is slowly improving but they are still yet to win. They were bowled out for 121 on their way to defeat by Karachi Kings and failed to defend 178/6 against Lahore Qalandars. Last time out, Quetta hit 198/7 thanks to Sarfaraz Ahmed’s 81 but Peshawar Zalmi beat them with three balls and three wickets to spare.
