  • Rajasthan Royals have produced the only two centurions of this year’s tournament so far. Sanju Samson hit 119 in their opening game defeat to Punjab Kings before Jos Buttler went five runs better last time out. With the ball, Chris Morris continues to lead the way with 14 wickets. He is now only 3 wickets behind Harshal Patel for the Purple Cap.
  • CSK’s batting has been very impressive with six players already having contributed over 100 runs. Faf du Plessis has 320 runs to his name and has posted a half-century in each of his last four innings. Sam Curran is the CSK leading wicket taker, he has taken 9 wickets so far as well as contributing 52 runs at a strike-rate of 208.
  • Jos Buttler’s century equalled Kieron Pollard’s 2021 IPL record of 8 sixes in an innings. Ravi Jadeja holds the record for the highest number of runs in an over this year after hitting Royal Challenger Bangalore’s Harshal Patel for 36 at the Wankhede Stadium.

 Toss Predictions:
Each captain apart from the sacked David Warner has chosen to field first in Delhi in this year’s IPL. We expect Sanju Samson and MS Dhoni to both want to chase in this game.

 Weather & Pitch Report:
⛅ Weather:
Mainly clear skies overhead with the temperature in the mid thirties throughout the game.
🏟️ Pitch:
Expect this Delhi pitch to deliver some high individual scores with a century from a batsman certainly not out of the question. Bottom of the table Sunrisers Hyderabad are the only team not to post a score above 200 in the last two games in Delhi.

 Team NEWS:

 RR Team News:
Sanju Samson’s side made two changes ahead of their victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad. Jaydev Unadkat and Shivam Dube were left out with Anuj Rawat making his debut alongside Kartik Tyagi. With two wins from their last three they may well stick with the same XI.

 CSK Team News:
CSK have really reaped the rewards of packing their side with multi dimensional players, meaning they have been able to bat aggressively safe in the knowledge there is always more batting to come. They were unchanged against Mumbai Indians in IPL 2021 and should give the same players the opportunity in this game.

 RR Key Players:

 Jos Buttler:
Having the Englishman firing at the top of the order makes the whole Rajasthan Royals proposition much tougher for opponents. He will be hoping to kick on after registering his first IPL ton in his 65th appearance.

 Sanju Samson:
Although Buttler rightly got the headlines, Samson’s 48 from 33 balls was also crucial. The pair shared a partnership of 150, only 7 shy of the IPL record for the third wicket.

 Chris Morris:
The South African pace bowler has found his rhythm in recent games and can’t stop taking wickets. He is only one strong spell away from catching up with Harshal Patel’s 17 wickets in this tournament.

 CSK Key Players:

 Faf du Plessis:
The South African opener will be looking to make it five consecutive half centuries and equal the IPL record shared by Virender Sehwag, Jos Buttler and David Warner.

 Moeen Ali:
The England all-rounder is loving life batting at number 3 for CSK and, in spite of only making one half-century, has already passed 200 runs in the tournament.

 Sam Curran:
Although he tops the wickets list for his team, given the chance, you wouldn’t rule him out doing the same with the bat. He always dismisses the big name batsmen from the opposition.

 Team Forms:

 RR Team Form:
Rajasthan looked dead and buried after losing by 10 wickets to RCB. However, wins against KKR and Sunrisers have made things look far rosier although they did lose to Mumbain Indians in between the victories.

 CSK Team Form:
After ending their winning streak it will be interesting to see if their bubble has burst. Judging by their overall performance against Mumbai Indians, they are still in excellent form.

 Rajasthan Royals:

Sanju Samson (captain), Jofra Archer, Jos Buttler, Riyan Parag, Shreyas Gopal, Rahul Tewatia, Mahipal Lomror, Kartik Tyagi, Andrew Tye, Jaydev Unadkat, Mayank Markande, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Anuj Rawat, David Miller, Manan Vohra, Christopher Morris, Shivam Dube, Chetan Sakariya, Mustafizur Rahman, Liam Livingstone, K.C. Cariappa, Akash Singh, Kuldip Yadav.

 Chennai Super Kings:

Ruturaj Gaikwad, Faf du Plessis, Moeen Ali, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni(w/c), Sam Curran, Dwayne Bravo, Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar, Lungi Ngidi, Robin Uthappa, Cheteshwar Pujara, Karn Sharma, Imran Tahir, Jason Behrendorff, Krishnappa Gowtham, Mitchell Santner, Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore, Hari Nishanth, N Jagadeesan, KM Asif, Harishankar Reddy, Bhagath Varma.
